Zesty Shrimp and Corn Soup

Shrimp and Corn Soup is a favorite in Louisiana and the rest of the South where shrimp are bountiful. For those who enjoy the classic creamy soup but long for zesty flavor, this recipe is for you! Simply add our Taste the Seasons Cajun Trinity mix for the flavors you seek.


1/4 cup butter

1/4 cup flour

1 package Taste the Seasons Cajun Trinity mix

8 ounces clam juice or shrimp broth

2 cups half and half

1 (14.75 ounce) can creamed corn

1 (15.25 ounce) can whole kernel corn, drained

1/4 cup dry sherry

1 pound small (70/90) shrimp, peeled and deveined

Green onions, sliced, for garnish



In a large saucepan, melt butter; add flour and stir constantly for 3-5 minutes until light brown. Add the Cajun Trinity mix and clam juice gradually, stirring constantly to blend. Stir in the half and half, creamed corn and whole kernel corn.

Cook over medium-low heat for 15 minutes, stirring frequently. Add the dry sherry and shrimp. Simmer 5-10 minutes until the shrimp are opaque and cooked.
