Taste the Seasons Pot Roast

A slow-cooker classic with tons of flavor from our Taste the Seasons Cajun Trinity mix. If desired, add carrots and potatoes about 45 minutes prior to the end of cooking. Make a rich Cajun-spiced gravy with the pan juices to serve with the beef.

Ingredients

1 tablespoon vegetable oil

4 pounds chuck roast

2 teaspoons salt

2 teaspoons pepper

2 cups beef broth

1 package Taste the Seasons Cajun Trinity mix

Directions

Heat oil in a large skillet. Rub the roast with salt and pepper; brown over medium-high heat, about 4 minutes per side. Remove the roast and place in a slow cooker. Pour about 1 cup of the beef broth into the skillet and stir to deglaze the pan. Pour the liquid into the slow cooker with the roast and add the remaining broth. Sprinkle the Cajun Trinity mix over the roast.

Cover and cook on low for 8-10 hours or on high for 5-6 hours. If desired, add carrots and potatoes about 45 minutes prior to the end of cooking.

To make a gravy, remove the roast from the slow cooker and turn the temperature to high. Stir 2-3 tablespoons cornstarch or flour into 1/4 cup water. Whisk into the broth until gravy thickens.
